it's for science, really it is!

A couple of days ago I posted an entry about geeks being cool (1/19/06:"I'm cool now?"). In this post I layout a scenario to make the point that maybe we [geeks] aren't as cool as we think we are. After discussing the topic with Carolyn we decided to see what would really happen. Intrigued by the idea I went on Thinkgeek.com and purchased 3 shirts. Two for me and one for Carolyn (one of the shirts was free thanks to my geek points). Here are images of this shirts:

We decided that we would go out to the bar some night (Saturday March 11th) and see what sort of reaction we would get wearing shirts like these. Carolyn will be wearing the Pi shirt (the Pi graphic is made up of the first 4493 digits in pi) and I will probably wear the "geek." shirt. I think the arcade shirt could pass a bit more easily than the geek shirt as a "normal" shirt. Basically our goal is to get hit on or hit on others and try to see what the reactions are. So, the way I see it, we are conducting a very important sociology experiment! I know that some of you are going to find fault with this experiment -- I say "go back to the lab and let us have our fun".
